AGARTALA, March 11 (TIWN): The most emaciated persons in India live in Tripura. Such an information has been furnished in the Rajya Sabha by Union Health Minister, J P Nadda. As per Nadda’s report is concerned, 4.8 percent males are fat, while 7.1 percent females are fat. Nadda’s facts have been reflected in National Family Health Survey 2015-16. According to guidelines of the Union Ministry of Health, the requisite hameoglobin for blood donation is 12.5 percent. The ruling Left Front Government of Tripura has transformed ‘volunteering blood donation’ into a mass revolution. However, prior haemoglobin tests are not taken, though it takes barely three minutes. But CM Manik Sarkar claims Tripura to have set an example in ‘volunteering blood donation’.According to a report furnished by the National Family Health Survey 2015-16, ¼ of infants less than 5 years old are suffering from malnutrition. The estimation is 24.3 percent. Half of these infants (48.3%) are suffering from anaemia. Half of infants less than two years old refuse vaccination. The take the toll of infant-deaths to 27 percent. It has been further stated in the report that barely 13.4 percent of pregnant women in Tripura consume Iron and Follic Acid tablets.Transfusion of blood below the requisite haemoglobin level is harmful for the doner and recipient as well.

As per the National Family Health Survey 2015-16 is concerned, 24.7 percent male (aged 15 to 49) and 54.5 percent female (aged 15 to 49) in Tripura are suffering from anaemia .

Whoever receives low quality blood avails nothing. Some bloods are sent to nursing home unauthorised.

The low quality bloods are destroyed but they are not kept on records. Consequently, a good number of patients do not receive from the blood bank.

If 99 percent blood are donated according to the tall claims of the Chief Minister, then why is there so much scarcity of blood?

The Central Government supplies these tablets free of cost. Consumption of this tablet is mandatory for pregnant women in a bid to eliminate anaemia.

In Tripura, merely 7.6 percent pregnant women undergo regular check-up by doctors.

Last month, a deworming programme was launched by the State Government throughout primary schools which was a failure.

If one goes to a primary school for an inspection, it is found out that Iron and Follic Acid tablets are stashed in huge numbers. However, those are not distributed among the students.

Overall, J P nadda’s point is proved.
