Workshop on Skill Development opportunities in Tripura held

AGARTALA, March 11(TIWN): Industries & Commerce Tapan Chakraborty inaugurated the new office of Directorate of skill development at ITI Indranagar road followed by a workshop on “Skill Development opportunities in Tripura” at Pragana Bhawan on Friday.

However, the program was also presided by Nagaraju Maddirala, Secretary of Industry, Health Department.

However, a MoA (Memorandum of Agreement) has also been signed. The MoA includes that at least 1924 person will participate from different ministry and departments of the state.

Tripura is a pioneer in skill development mission in the country. It has been functioning since September, 2010, under the industries department. But after announcement of Skill India Mission, the state government set up a separate directorate.

In Tripura skill development is just not limited for getting employment in the industrial sector but initiatives has also been taken and with equal importance for skill development among those associated with the agriculture and allied sector so that they can not only get employment within the state but also help in increasing the productivity of the state.

Skill development is just not only for employment in the industries, skill development is equally important for agricultural activities, fishery, animal husbandry or horticulture.

The Left Front-led Tripura government decided to set up a state skill development mission to enable youths to get employment opportunities.

The move came a week after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the National Skill Development Mission.

A separate directorate is constituted to run various skill development activities in the state.

An expert group is constituted to assess and conduct the study about the requirement of funds, necessary infrastructure, number of people likely to be trained and other related matters.

Under the proposed Tripura Skill Development Mission, youths would be trained as per their capabilities, merit and make them employable.
