DHARMANAGAR, March 11 (TIWN) : The construction work of Dharmanagar sub-jail is progressing very slowly and doubts are huge regarding the completion of the work in the due time.

Reportedly, the construction work of Dharamanagar sub jail was started in 2015, January and it was to complete within 2016. But the working progress at there is very slow, showing no hopes for the completion of it within the set time.

The estimate cost of the whole work was : Rs.10,64,78,369/- and the work is under N G Bhattacharjee, a contractor based in Agartala.

However, presently, the sub-jail of Dharmanagar is located at Circuit house area, better known as Jail-road area.

Before 2 years, the govt. decided to shift the jail from Circuit house area to kalikapur Bazar, which will make the space at Circuit house for other Govt. offices, instead of jail.

However central allocated more than Rs. 10 crores to complete the new sub-jail at kalikapur, after getting DPR from the Tripura Govt.

But presently, the construction work is undergoing in a snail-pace and maximum days, works remains off at there. The contractor, whom the state govt. has given the work is hardly seen in the construction site.

Most importantly, the materials used for the construction of Kalikapur sub-jail are of very low quality and allegations are coming for huge embezzlement of funds in this 10 crores project.
