Rising illegal activities: Police conducts sudden raid in hotels and restaurants at Battala, police official talks to TIWN

AGARTALA, March 10 (TIWN): With the rise in the practice of illegal activities, the Battala police under the initiative of SDPO Rajendra Datta on Thursday conducted sudden raid in all the restaurants and hotels at Battala to keep a check on the crime rate.

In a crackdown against restaurants and hotels allegedly operating illegal activities the police conducted raids at all hotels and restaurants across Battala on Thursday afternoon.

Police officers barged into the premises of all hotels. This sudden action took everyone by surprise, police said.

The operation was led by SDPO Rajendra Datta, who directed the junior officers to conduct the raid.

Talking to TIWN correspondent, Battala police official said that the raid was conducted as a part of the regular vigilance to keep a check on the rising crime activities.  The official further said that no goods were seized in the raid and no one was arrested.

This initiative is taken as a part of regular vigilance.

Panic-stricken customers were seen leaving with their friends and spouses from the place in utter embarrassment," police official said.

The police said that they did not misbehave with any of the hotel customers as the action was aimed at straightening things up.

It is to be mentioned here that the illegal business of ending and gambling has been rampant here in Tripura-capital at every nook and corner with the gamblers making a hefty profit. Surprising, but one cannot deny to the fact that a large section of people belong to a good and patterned family are found engaged to the ending and gambling business who simply put hefty amount and sometimes return empty handed.

The capital city has now gained a thrust for this illegal business. At the same time the young generation is on the verge of destruction, while anti- social activities going on at full swing from morning to evening all across the state.

However, the business has turned much profitable for a section of people of the state while the others engaged to the activity have been suffering from a great loss, as a section of young boys of the present age secretly takes the money from their parents to get engage to ending-gambling play cards.

Over the past decades addictions to gambling, have grown to an accelerated rate. Not only adults, but teenagers are gambling without realizing the consequences.
