AGARTALA, March 7 (TIWN): CPI-M state Secretary Bijan Dhar in a press meet at state party office said that incumbent MP Jharna Das Baidya has already filed her nomination papers for the state’s lone Rajya Sabha seat.
As per the schedule, the filling of nomination paper would be allowed till March 11 while scrutiny would be done on March 12. The last date for withdrawal of nomination paper would be allowed on March 14 while the polling is scheduled to be held at Assembly lobby on March 21, according to an official communiqué from the sate election department.
Dhar further criticised the JNU incident and said that the case is totally shameful. Speaking at the press meet Dhar further criticised the central government for increasing the price of the 73 medicines and demanded top lessen the price as early as possible.
He further said that the state committee has further decided that the party need to reach to the common people for the development of the state. However a session will also be held at nazrul Kalakshetra.
However, it is to be mentioned here that Elections to a total of 13 Rajya Sabha seats from Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala and Punjab would be held on March 21. Officials said the President of India and the Central Election Commission have issued separate notifications for these elections.
The CPI-M state committee meeting took the final decision. However, the meeting will also held several other discussion including evaluation of the VC election, alliance with Congress and other forums will also be discussed in the meeting.
