Erosion at Howrah River continues: Authority yet playing role of silent spectators

AGARTALA, March 7 (TIWN): Despite of claiming tall to stop the rising erosion at the embankment of Howrah River yet no initiatives have been taken to implement the decision.

It is to be mentioned here that the authority has decided to bring 47.42 hector of land under bamboo cultivation but till day no update has been received.

It has been mentioned that a total of 27 Hector of the area has been already brought under the Bamboo cultivation.

Besides, to control the rising pollution in the water of the Howrah River the families residing at the embankment of the River the authority has decided to shit the residence or to provide proper sanitation but till day no initiatives has been taken.

However, it is worthy to mention that the Forest Department it taking initiatives to control the erosion of bank of the Howrah River but the problem of the river does not end here, the river is also facing threat of major water pollution and so far the river water is worsening day by day.

Besides, till day no fruitful initiatives have been taken yet, despite of several tall claims.

Earlier decision was taken to remove all the kaccha latrines from the bank of the river but till day in many areas people are seen practicing open defecation. Locals also dump garbage on the river water which is also reason behind the rising pollution.

However, the water of Howrah River which is the life line of the capital is getting worse day by day. Despite of several complains made by the people today no initiatives has been taken to make the situation better.
