KAMALPUR, March 6 (TIWN): The grip of party-raj controlling the normal works and course remained nothing new. In this so-called ‘golden’ regime, the hold of the ruling CPI-M party had tightened to such an extent that, almost no beneficiary work could be implemented without the green signal from the party heavyweights.

Still, commoners could avail some facilities from the agriculture department without the hard and fastness of the party. Seeds, fertilizers, insecticides etc. were sometimes distributed among the farmers on the will and consideration of the official top brass.

Even the selection of some beneficiaries could be selected by the officials based on the ground reality. But during some periods recently, that opportunity too collapsed.

According to the farmers, floriculturists, fruit-farmers and the youths eager to implement different innovative schemes, the officials simply rejected their pleas for getting some facilities as they sought no permission from the party.

The situation became so worse that, the farmers were directly told for fetching recommendations from the CPI-M’s party heavyweights in this sub-division.

Now, in an ideal and dynamic administration (!), the ruling party might have a say in the administrative proceedings. And the same was evident in the state in the past too. But everything was from behind the curtain. And the officials were given some freedom. But, after the Putiacharra NWDPRA scam, as one of the Party’s veteran leadership found involved, the party leadership probably employed the measure for making their comrades unstained. But, the system which brought about lot of pathos for the commoners, would it be able to stop the embezzlement-prone leaders, or it would increase the sufferings for the commoners, remained the matter to be seen.
