AGARTALA, Feb 29 (TIWN) : The pathetic condition of NH-44 since decades is still unchangeable due to the poor quality of renovation process of road ways across Tripura. The roadway is in its worst condition in North Tripura, however, the Southern part is little better. But still the NH-44, the life line of Tripura’s transport system, suffers from lack of quality in construction work which has been done by PWD till last year.

The base of the road construction work was very poor, which has become the main problem for NH-44 in Tripura’s part. Although recently the road from Surjamani Nagar to Bishalgarh area was renovated, but the condition has once again started to get worse again within the few days of the work.

Already many wholes and broken road’s part is turning the road again in deplorable condition. Moreover, the journey via this road is never smooth as only for the name-sake the renovation work is done by local contractors. In unscientific way the workers fill the wholes of the road and as a result within few days, the road becomes more deplorable.

Whereas crores of funds are allocated for the NH-44’s work but the construction has to remain poor here. The risks of the road increases during the night time andccidents are very prominent on those roads.

On the one hand the drivers are driving for long journeys in this one-way lane, on the other hand, no traffic police can be found there to control the unruly vehicles. After the accidents are held at those areas, then only the police run to collect the dead bodies of the victims.

However, the Ministers of the state are least bothered about the condition of the roadways, as they used to prefer chopper rides instead of daily travelling. Whether it’s CM of Tripura or Social Development Minster Bijita Nath, all are out of those scenarios as being the leader of the state they do not have to visit the places and take survey by their own eyes. As a result, the bribe happy officers, local contractors day and night are playing with the lives of the common people.
