AGARTALA, Feb 28 (TIWN): After waiting for long time, the renovation work of the National Highway at the Churaibari to Lowerpoa part is going on in full swing. Reportedly, workers are busy in renovating the road to meet the deadline as if the work is not completed on time than rain may disrupt in the progress of work. Earlier talking to TIWN correspondent, Executive Engineer of PWD of NH44 division, Karimganj said that the renovation work of the National Highway at lowerpoa-Churaibari part is underway in full swing. Besides, he also expressed that it is expected that the renovation work is expected to get complete by the month of March. However, with the completion of the renovation work it is expected that the commuters are going to get relief from the prolonged harassment faced all these years. After huge doldrums regarding the poor condition of the National Highway especially from Lowerpoa to Churaibari, the Assam government has finally taken the initiative to look into the matter.Besides, according to the official reports, the renovation work has been completed in the Tripura section till Churraibari. Only maintenance process is continuing on the roads so that the commuters do not have to face any kind of harassment in the coming days.

Expecting the completion of the renovation work at the Lowerpoa portion where people are expressing joy, on the other hand allegation has been raised that the pot holes of the roads are being filled with mud and only carpeting has been done over the road with low quality materials.

 It is to be mentioned here that the commuters were suffering due to poor condition of the road for prolonged many days but for long time no initiatives was taken. Finally when the renovation work has started at the Lowerpoa area allegation of the use of poor quality materials came into lime light.

Risking their own life the commuters are travelling through the road, while on the other occasion the passengers cross the road putting their lives and safety in the hands of the drivers.

The bad road condition also poses tremendous dangers to pedestrians and villagers who live on either side of the highway. On many occasions, as vehicles passes by the pedestrians have reportedly been injured with stone chips hitting them.

However, with the alleged embezzlement in the renovation work of the National Highway it seems like the harassment due to the deplorable condition of the National Highway is an unending issue.

Besides, the monsoon is also heading, if the National Highways are not renovated properly than with the rain season the roads are going to turn muddy and full of pot holes.
