Parimal Saha murder case: Defence lawyers appeal in HC for accepting the certified copy of post-mortem report as evidence, next hearing on March 1

AGARTALA, Feb 27 (TIWN): Defence lawyers into the Parimal Saha murder case has filed in HC for accepting the certified copy of post mortem as evidence. It is to be mentioned here that lower court has agreed to treat the copy of certified post-mortem report of Parimal Saha as evidence into the case. However, HC will hear the case on March 1 after evaluating the documents into the case. However, earlier as a part of the hearing of the case, the accused were interrogated in the court under section 313. Reportedly, the copy of certified post-mortem report is expected to reveal several hidden truth behind the murder case. After the Public prosecutor in court demanded to produce the report as a part of testimony to precede the level of the case, court has agreed to put up it as evidence. It is to be mentioned here that four witnesses have recorded their statement on January 25 into the sensational Parimal Saha murder case. Although some miscreants have threatened a key witness of pathetic consequence, however, the prime witnesses have recorded their statement amidst strict security.Former Judge Narayan Chandra Das, Dr.Nitya Ranjan Datta, Dr.Rajat Bhattacharjee, and soma Ghosh have recorded their statement into the sensational Parimal Saha murder case. Congress MLA Parimal Saha was brutally killed by ‘unknown’ assailants on the Agartala –Bishalgarh road on April 1, 1983 triggering unrest in the entire Bishalgarh subdivision in the undivided West Tripura district.

Immediately after the incident, police had launched a massive crack down at Bisghalgarh area and arrested 18 persons in connection with the murder. Of the total arrested accused persons, Investigating Officer D. Gautam had submitted charge sheet before the District and Sessions court, West Tripura against 16 potential accused persons.

Two chargesheeted accused persons died in course of the trial process. According to sources, the process of deposition of witnesses was completed long time ago but problem surfaced after death of the IO.

Charilam Congress MLA Parimal Saha was murdered in 1983 under the then Left Front regime of Tripura. With the change of guard in 1988 by the Congress-TUJS alliance, the police charged 26 individuals and put in a charge sheet before the High Court. The case was sent for a trial. Evidences and witnesses were also taken.
