AGARTALA, Feb 26 (TIWN): North Eastern Frontier railway Chief Engineer (Construction)-NFR Harpal Singh on Friday in a visit to Agartala railway station said that there was no obstruction in running the freight train to Agartala railway station which reached to the station on Thursday night. Speaking to media, Chief Engineer (Construction)-NFR Harpal Singh said that goods loaded train reached successfully to Agartala railway station and there were no hurdles while running the train in the newly converted BG track up to Agartala. It is to be mentioned here that a 40 Wagoner train popularly known as ballast train reached Agartala railway station on Thursday night. He further said that the track is all set to run the BG passenger train from Agartala as soon as possible, but the service cannot start before getting clarification from the CRS team. When asked about the commencement of CRS inspection, Singh said that the inspection will be completed by March.Taking a look at the work progress of the Agartala work station, Singh said that the process of laying track is almost completed now the entire concentration is laid on the construction of the Agartala railway station.Just when counting days are left for the official beginning of the BG passenger’s railway service in the state by March31 the workers are busy in fixing the signals along the newly converted BG railway tracks.

It is to be mentioned here that railway signalling is a system used to direct railway traffic and keep trains clear of each other at all times. Trains move on fixed rails, making them uniquely susceptible to collision. This susceptibility is exacerbated by the enormous weight and inertia of a train, which make it difficult to quickly stop when encountering an obstacle.

Singh also added that the water supply, signal system and all other essential stuffs required for the commencement of the BG passenger service is underway and will be completed soon.

Tripura has created a history today, the first BG freight train has finally touched the soil of Tripura and this is just the beginning of the development

Joy ran high among the common people when the traditional whistle of the BG cargo train was first heard at Jirania station creating a history in Tripura.
