KAMALPUR, Feb 22 (TIWN): The NEC roads remained to be the safe corridor for illegal transportation of not only contrabands and psychotropic substances but also for foreign liquors. And it got proved last night as police nabbed two persons while transporting huge illegal foreign liquor and nabbed the vehicle. But one vehicle with more consignment became able to flee away.
According to the case diary, police spread their net at Durgachowmuhani on Halhali-Fatikroy NEC road acting on a tip-off. Accordingly, two vehicles approached through the road towards Manikbhander.
Police tried to stop the vehicles but the drivers increased the momentum. Then, police stopped one Alto 800 at Chulubari bearing number TR-02-G-0724. Then police seized huge amount of foreign liquor and also arrested the two persons.
They were the driver Dulal Debnath (34) of Rowa, Panisagar and Badal Das (40) of Darang, Kamalpur. Police recovered almost 450 bottles of foreign liquors of different brands.
Police registered a case and forwarded them to the Court today.
