RAGNA (Indo-Bangla Border), Feb 21 (TIWN) : Unfenced border areas across Tripura are causing increasing violence and terrors for lakhs of people residing near Indo-Banngla Border areas. Such an half km unfenced area has been visited by TIWN correspondent and had a talk with BSF Commandant on Sunday morning. The area falls into North Tripura’s Ragna Indo-Bangla border area, 5 km away from Dharmanagar subdivision where at least over half kilometer of border area are left as unfenced. BSF Commandant Kulajit Singh while talking to TIWN said, “Border fencing is very necessary for the state’s safety”. “Tripura’s border areas are suffering from rapid threats of robberies, smuggling and other incidents from Bangaldeshi miscreants”, added Singh. However, when asked about the cause behind the unfenced borders, Singh mentioned, “The state govt. is not progressing the fencing works due to some land demarcation issues but BSF is in full favour of Border fencing”, said Commandant.“As fast as the border fencing work can be completed, it will be beneficial for the public. It will be also helpful for BSF to protect the state from infiltrators”, said Singh.

It’s to be mentioned here that at Belonia, South Tripura people are facing the same problem due to the land-demarcation issues between the Tripura / Indian Govt and the Bangladesh Govt.

The Muhuri River bank area is in same way  has remained ‘unsolved’ and borders have become like an open corridor for smuggling.

This area however is kept under the strict vigilance of BSF.

Even before  3 years also this place was very sensitive as Bangladeshi criminals committing murders, theft, robberies on daily basis. However, the situation is under control.

Moreover, the banned militant outfits’ camps in Chittagong Hill Tract are using the unfenced borders for their trans-border movements.

So, state govt. should look after the matter as soon as possible, to decrease the border related problems.
