AGARTALA, Feb 20 (TIWN): February is nearly to end but so far no initiative is taken to mark the inauguration of the internet bandwidth service. It is to be mentioned here that the trial run for the much awaited project of internet bandwidth was conducted successfully as said by an official of BSNL. BSNL official said that the trial run along with all the underline experiments was done successfully and the formal inauguration may mark up at any moment. Tripura will be the third internet gateway after Mumbai and Chennai, and is scheduled to be inaugurated by February. The laying of optical fibre cable in the Indian side to improve the internet connectivity in the entire NE states including Tripura is completed. The BSNL employees have already completed the work by January but the inauguration process is yet to take place. It is to be mentioned here that The BSNL had inked an agreement with BSCCL to provide internet bandwidth.

Tripura will be the third internet gateway after Mumbai and Chennai, which was scheduled to be inaugurated in February but even after passage of a week, authority is reluctant to take any initiative to launch the much talked project of Internet Bandwidth.

On the one hand the inauguration of internet bandwidth service is delayed and on the other hand the telecommunication services in Tripura have deteriorated in the past few days because of poor internet connectivity and congestion in the network.

Prolonged deplorable condition of the telecommunication connectivity provided by BSNL, hits the people with acute disruption in the day to day communication.

Even as mobile network service continues to remain in a pathetic condition, the Government run BSNL service has failed in providing Internet service too. Prolonging its worst service in most of the areas in the District, the BSNL officials seems to remain clueless and higher authority in Agartala remains mute over the issue. It has been several years that the BSNL is providing service in the State but till day no improvement has been witnessed yet rather it has turned worst, said a consumer.

BSNL authorities have blamed inadequate communication channels compared to the number of users, while private operators held BSNL responsible for the poor tele-infrastructure in the state. BSNL in the northeast has been suffering for long from inadequate manpower and has been managing with low-quality equipment. Despite doing good business, BSNL is not getting sufficient funds in the region.

However, it is expected that once the internet bandwidth starts its service, the prolonged deplorable condition of internet will meet an end in the coming days.
