Construction of flyover halts traffic, tough time for the commuters

AGARTALA, Feb 20 (TIWN): With the decision of constructing a flyover in the capital, people all across appreciated the decision with the hope that the initiative will curb the down the traffic jams in the city during the office hour.

Just few months has passed that the construction of the flyover has begun, locals and the shop owners are hit with dust and daily traffic chaos.

Allegation has been raised that locals residing allegedly complained of inadequate planning and mismanagement in the construction and in the traffic management which has created in traffic snarl and chaotic situation in the city.

Besides, the city has turned to accident prone area, anytime any untoward incident can occur in the city if the drivers or the passengers do not drive on the roads properly.

The locals also alleged that without any plans to channelize the movement of traffic, the contracting company has barricaded most of the area, leaving only little area for vehicles to pass through.

It is to be mentioned here that number of school buses ply on the road of the construction site, which makes the issue of road safety all the more important.

However, though with the completion of the flyover the traffic chaos will be brought under control but the construction tenure of the flyover is giving tough time to the common mass.

 Along with the passerby the shop owners also are suffering in the dusty environment giving them headache.

It has been mentioned that the battala junction is among the busy road in the capital and mostly during the office hour the common mass are badly hit with traffic jam.

However, though the traffic department has identified some substitute roads but people mostly prefers the road through battala junction.

Locals complained that in order to curb down the regular traffic congestion, department should keep strict vigilance and proper management should have been taken.

On the other hand, the roads of the construction site are full of potholes and have become jumpy-bumpy giving tough time to the passengers.

However, the distance which use to take 30 minute these days it takes 40 to 45 minute to cover the same distance.
