AGARTALA, Feb 19 (TIWN): BJP lawyers association, identified as All Tripura lawyers association (ATLA) of Tripura Bar association on Friday hold press meet at Tripura bar association office and said that they are the only alternative to left panel as congress has decided to boycott election which is scheduled to held on February 28.

Addressing the press meet on Friday at bar association office, Arun Kanti Bhowmik BJP media cell chairperson said that in the upcoming bar association election they will fight one to one with left front as they are the only alternative to CPI-M.

He further said that the party has also filled nomination to the election and has also raised issues including independence of judiciary, to maintain peace and tranquillity. He further said that the conviction rate to be increased and monthly an amount of Rs5000 should be given to the lawyers practicing for 0 to 5 years.

Reportedly, congress has also alleged discrepancy in the voter list. Alleging discrepancy in the voters list, he also said that this is done only to lessen the vote count of Congress and to gain more votes in the account of left front.

However, the congress legal cell of the Tripura bar association decided to boycott the election on February 28 if the omitted voters are not enrolled in the list.

If the legal voters whose names are omitted from the list are not included the congress legal cell will boycott votes.

This is done only to cut the votes of congress and it is a planned strategy to make the left win the election.

As per the rules if anyone’s name is omitted from the list he or she need to be given proper notification but in this case no notification was circulated and without any information altogether 72 names were omitted from the voters list which is not acceptable.

It is to be mentioned here that the election to the Tripura bar association is slated to be held on February 28.
