DHARMANAGAR / AGARTALA, Feb 18 (TIWN) : 3 days have been passed that a cooked rat was found in mid-day-meal, which was served to children at an Anganwadi Centre in Dharmanagar North Tripura. But no steps has been taken against the school authority for such a careless act, due to which many became sick at that place.Talking to the state Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty, he said, “Mid-day-meal issue actually doesn’t come under Education Dept. It is responsibility of the Social Welfare Dept.” However, Education Minister said that such things should not be repeated and surely Dept. will take action against the school authority. But surprisingly, when TIWN called the Social Welfare Minister Bijita Nath, she skirted the issue as if she doesn't know anything (even though she is fully aware of the incident), so she said, “I didn’t get any report regarding such issue. However, if official report comes, department will surely take action”.

It’s to be mentioned here that although Bijita Nath declined for having any knowledge about the incident, but she sent CDPO to control the situation.

The CDPO, alongwith other officials on Wednesday held meeting with Panchayat members and managed to pacify villagers by promising them some sops. But surprisingly, the students & guardians were noty called in that meeting.

Among the Panchayat members, it was Pradip Nath, who earlier known as a Naxalite and now have joined CPI-M was eager most to hush up the matter. As a result, without any legal action CPI-M has managed to fool public, with the help of the Panchayat members of  Dharmanagar.

It’s to be mentioned here that although almost everyday Bijita Nath plies across Dharmanagar, but the local people’s agony are unknown to her.

She neither shown interest to know the matter fully, nor said anything about the probable steps which would be taken by the departments.

Reportedly, at the Anganwadi Centre, Ward number 2, North Ganga Nagar, at Dharmanagar subdivision on Monday cooked rat was served to the students.

This terrible incident came into limelight when the full rat was found in the palters of a little girl namely Sneha Chanda.

Moreover, the rest of the rat body parts were found in other plates.

Getting informed about it, locals protested heavily against the school authorities and held meeting among themselves for further actions.

Decisions has been taken on following day that here will be a meeting between the school authorities & the local Panchayat members.

But 2 days have been passed that no action has been taken by the department till now.

A total of 16 students study in that school and 3 teaching staffs are there. The name of the cook is Bashanti Rani Nath. Now it’s to be seen what action the govt. would take against the school authority.

TIWN already informed Union HRD Minister Smrity Irani's office with this news newsand rat pictures in mid-day meal.

Central Govt expected to pull up Tripura Govt on this issue as Mid-Day meal money 100% sponsored by Union Govt to provide nutricious meals to economically improvised kids across country.
