AGARTALA, Feb 18 (TIWN): In this age of digital era, people are losing their interest from the printed copy of books and preferring to e-copies, said a stall owner at 34th Agartala Book fair from Bangladesh on Wednesday at Umakanta Academy.
Reportedly, compare to another year this year less crowd has been observed at the 34th Agartala Book fair.
It is to be mentioned here that altogether 121 stalls has been set up in the 34th Agartala Book Fair organized on February 14 at Umakanta Academy.
It is to be mentioned here despite of long rows of books in the 34th Agartala Book Fair very less crowd has been observed in the fair.
On the other hand, it has been seen that now a day youth prefers e-books as it is easy and affordable.
Even the sale graph of books is showing ‘poor’ compared to last few years, due to less crowd of book lovers, especially the students.
It has been mentioned that with the emergence digitisation of the books or the format of e-books has lead to decrease of consumers in the book fairs.
Though people prefer to the e-books but nothing is much enjoyable like the paper printed books, said a book trader from Bangladesh.
Besides, he also mentioned that through online facility people can buy books easily but the enjoyment in buying and going through the books physically in any books fair is totally different.
According to the reports, along with the Tripura publishers, different publishers of Bangladesh, Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati are expected to participate at the upcoming book fair.
It is to be mentioned here that a total of 73 stalls has set up from Tripura, Kolkata thirty-six, Guwahati six, New Delhi three and one each from Bangladesh and Kerela.
Besides, it has mentioned that the fair will begin at 2pm in the after and will continue till 8:30 pm in the evening. Besides, during the holidays the fair will continue till 9 pm in the night.
