KALYANPUR / RUPRAI (Khowai), Feb 17 (TIWN) : Tripura’s extremist group backed IPFT (Indigenous People's Front of Tripura) has once again started violence in hilly areas of the state. FIR has been lodged against IPFT members at Kalyanpur police station, for attacking a school teacher with sharp weapon on wednesday. According to the reports, on Wednesday morning hours, when a teacher namely Harendra Debbarma was going to his school Ruprai SB School he was suddenly attacked by a group of IPFT cadres. However, that person has been saved himself by escaping from the clutches of those miscreants, who were holding sharp weapons in their hands to murder teacher. Following the incident, Kalyanpur locals are terrorized and presently tension has gripped the whole subdivision after the teacher was attacked by the IPFT supporters. The incident happened at Ruprai area, a tribal hamlet, under Khowai District. After the attack was held upon him, teacher escaped from the place and reached to Kalyanpur.

The IPFT supporters were running after him with sharp weapons, but they had returned back, when the town area came closure. This was viewed by Kalynapur locals, said sources.

The teacher has reported that like everyday he was going to his school at around 6.30 am.

As soon a he reached Ruprai, an IPFT member namely Dipankar Debbbarma called him and tried to kill him with sharp weapnons. But he managed to escape from the place and saved ownself.

However, FIR has been lodged in Kalyanpur P S against Dipankar Debbarma and a formal deputation has been placed to the PS by Teacher’s Association of Kalyanpur.

It was just 1 week before that Tripura CM Manik Sarkar told the common masses during his campaigns on hills that “IPFT & their activity is not acceptable” and he also said, “The concept of Twipra land will remain as an imaginary land”.

But CM can’t ignore that, when this group of extremists are doing its best to spread violence in the state, especially in hilly areas.

Such incidents are increasing day by day and Govt. should take these matters seriously to stop rising violence at Hills.
