AGARTALA, Feb 17 (TIWN): State Government is yet reluctant to pay the pending bills of around Rs. 69 crores after prolonged many months.

Talking to TIWN correspondent, official sources mentioned that departments under State Government is yet to pay around Rs. 69 crores of pending bills (till December) of electricity bills to the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited.

Besides, the official stated that till the month of December, 2015 a total bill of around Rs. 69 crores has been figured out by the Power Department.

Despite of several days passed the State Government is yet reluctant to pay the stunning figure.

It is to be mentioned here that the power department has already send a copy of detailed pending bills to the concern departments under the State Government where the electricity bill has extended from Rs. 1 Lakh.

The situation raised several question, the ruling Government can pay lakhs of rupees for the election campaign buy why delaying in clearing the pending bills? Chief Minister of the State can take chopper ride for attending election campaigning but while clearing the bills the state government runs lack of fund.

Despite the stunning figures of pending bills; the power connection to the departments cannot not be disconnected as most of their services come under the emergency category. Therefore, the hands of the power department is tied with several responsibilities and their attempt of collecting bill remains bound till requesting the Department to pay the bills on time.

The Government departments with multiple connections usually don’t pay bills on a regular basis because of budgetary constraints. Most of them pay only when they are granted funds by the State government.

Therefore, the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd could not shape up the fate of around Rs. 69 crores which is the amount till the month of December, 2015.

However, where the ruling Government can spend huge amount of money for the election campaign but least bothered to clear the pending bill of Rs. 69 crores.
