AGARTALA, Feb 16 (TIWN) : Resentment brewed among the locals of Dharmanagar after a child was crushed to death when a Bolero car had smashed him on Tuesday morning.Reportedly, Debraj Nath, S/O- Bijan Bihari Nath was returning from his school Sonapur S B School at around 10 am. As soon as he came before the school-gate, a car bearing number TR051866 hit the boy in high speed. Immediately the boy was hospitalized but he couldn’t survive. Although Kodomtala P S police was informed immediately, but they didn’t come. It was after 1 hour when they came, although the place was not even 5 km distance from the police station. When the police came, already the resent public started road-blockade.Sources said that finding the people holding road blockade Kadamtala police had escaped from that area. Interestingly, Minister Bijita Nath was on the way, when the crowd was gathered on Dharmanagar road.
But quite cunningly, former Rose Valley Chit Fund agent and Minister Bijita Nath avoided the responsibility by telling the public that she is informing the matter to the Superintendent of Police and made a quick escape rather than carrying the child to hospital in her official car or following up developments in Hospital. But after Mnister's false promise of informing SP immediately, no police showed up for hours, then the public staged 'dharna' on the road.
After that, DC Tridip Nath, SDPO Rajdeep Deb, SP Abhijit Saptrashi rushed to that spot and controlled the situation.
From 10.30 am to 1.30 pm the road blockade was held. No arrest has been dne yet by Police However, the vehicle is now under the custody of Kadamtala police station.
SP Abhijit Saptrashi & SDPO Rajdeep Deb lodged FIR against the driver under the section 302 (murder case). However, the driver is presently in absconding.
