KAMALPUR, Feb 15 (TIWN): In the two days’ remand at Kamalpur police station, police succeeded to unearth many sensational facts from the four Bangladeshi citizens. And all those facts, as revealed by a source from police to TIWN somehow or the other indicate to the loopholes in our border vigil.

The four Bangladeshi citizens namely Shahidur Rahaman (32), Kalu Khan (28), Sohel Seikh (28) and Jinnat Seikh (28) were arrested by kamalpur police from the house of some Kartik Das at Halhali in the dawn on 9th February last. They were nabbed as they became tenants at that house by taking Hindu names. In primary interrogation they admitted their Bangladeshi identity and illegal immigration. Police also seized Indian voter I/card, driving license, pan cards from them.

Then police booked them in 10/2016 numbered case under sections 468, 471, 120(B) of IPC and 03 of Passport Act. Police produced them on the Court on 10th February and demanded remand. Then the Court sent them for one days’ jail custody and demanded the case diary. On 11th February, police produced the case dairy and the Court sent them to two days’ police remand. On 13th February, they were again produced to Court and sent to the nine days’ jail custody till 22nd February.

In that two days’ remand the four nabbed citizens disclosed that, they had earlier booked by the West Bengal police for illegal immigration almost four to five years ago. Then they were pushed back to Bangladesh. And this time once again they entered the Indian Territory illegally through Beanpole border of West Bengal. Police not wanted to disclose anything further for detailed investigation. However, it got disclosed that, the four Bangladeshi citizens had no strong terrorist connectivity proven till now. But, the available information simply arise question over the security machinery in our border areas. The incident that happened at Beanpole often happens in the borders of Tripura. The illegal smuggling of psychotropic substances and cattle become very common in the international border of Tripura. The infiltration through border has become a serious issue over the years throughout the country. But nothing significant has yet been achieved other than setting of barbed wire fencing at the border.

Still, that wire fencing has significantly failed to put a restraint on human trafficking and smuggling. Now, the incident of the four Bangladeshi citizens once again proved the wide open follies from our part. But, if our policy makers have enough time to think over it, remains the question here.
