AGARTALA, Feb 15 (TIWN): Manika Dutta Roy on Monday took charge as the newly appointed chairperson of the Tripura Commission for Women.

According to the sources reports, Manika Dutta Roy was handed over the responsibility as the Chairperson of Tripura Commission for Women amidst a formal program.

It is to be mentioned here that Manika Dutta Roy was the Vice-Chairperson of Tripura Commission for Women.

According to the reports, she has a qualification in Bachelor in Arts. Besides, she has also served in the Public Work Department as Lower Division Clerk from 24.10.1968. She got retirement on March 2008 in the capacity of Head Clerk.

Besides, Manika Dutta Roy was earlier appointed as Joint Secretary of Tripura Government Employee Association and Cultural Secretary of GPAT.

It is to be mentioned here that Tripura Commission for Women has been established for the investigation of the incident over crime against women.

Besides, the members of the Tripura Commission for Women also visit the house of victims and take information about the incidents.

The member also arranges shelter for the victims. Besides, various other initiatives have been taken by the organization.

It is to be mentioned here that the Chairperson of Tripura Commission for Women has served as assistance teachers in North Kamrangatali Senior Basic School from the year 1973 to 1974 and at Melagarh Higher Secondary School from 1974 to 1980, Ramnagar Girls High School from 1990 to 1997.

She was also appointed as Head Mistress of Ramnagar Girls High School from 1997-2007, at Maharani Tulshibati Girls High Secondary School from 2007 to 2012.

Besides, she also received president award in the year 2009 and Rajiv Gandhi Award in the year 2010.

However, through a programme Manika Dutta Roy was handed over the responsibility as the Chairperson of Tripura Commission for Women on Monday.
