AGARTALA, Feb 13 (TIWN): Whether by rigging, snatching or scattering votes, or provoking voters, the riggers used a variety of vote-rigging tricks to interfere with voting process and disrupted the smooth conduct of the election in many wards as alleged by the common mass on Saturday during the poll hours of Amarpur bi-election.

It is alleged that the process of rigging is adopted to disrupt the smooth conduct of the election into 31 number wards in Bangkarai para SB school.

Allegedly, someone else has cast votes for some others.  However, question is raised on the role of the presiding officer.

Vote rigging is an illegal interference with the process of an election. The acts of fraud would affect vote counts on election result, whether by increasing the vote share of the favoured candidate, depressing the vote share of the rival candidates.

The poll began peacefully at 8 AM and with the progress of the day the process of the vote cast gained momentum and the vote percentage touched the margin of 44 percent as per information till 12 in the afternoon.

The election to Amarpur assembly constituency commenced from morning 8 am as per the scheduled program by State election commission.

In order to ensure free and fair election huge security is deployed in and around the polling centres. Security has been tightened in all the polling centers to avoid any untoward incident during the by-elections.

The polling began from 8 AM and is slated to continue till 5 PM respectively. Total seven candidates from six different political parties including one independent are contesting the bi-election.

The election process is scheduled to be completed on February 28. The election would be held on the basis of electoral rolls with base year- 1-1-2016. However, the counting would be conducted on February 16.

However, it is to be mentioned here that Bi-election to Amarpur Assembly constituency began from morning. While notification was made on January 20 and the last date for making nomination was January 27, as informed by the authority in the state election is also completed.
