KAMALPUR, Feb 11 (TIWN): Former Registrar of Tripura High Court and a renowned personality in the arena of law as well as a proud son of Kamalpur, Subhendu Dasgupta published a book recently. The book was titled "Tripura Tenancy and Land Laws." The book was published by Sankhasubhra Dasgupta, his nephew.
Mr. Dasgupta had a rich experience of Judiciary and witnessed the pathos of commoners as well as the complexities of the tenancy i.e. the rights of the subjects or citizens and the complexities of the law. So in his book, he tried and almost succeeded to discuss the pros and cons of the land laws. This would surely be a boon for everyone.
Further, the evolution of land laws, from the princely Tripura up to the present democratic set up, got chronologically discussed in the book. It would greatly help the existing practicing lawyers as well as researchers and students. In this context, it might be mentioned here that, the book covered the princely land laws from Birchandramanikya to Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya.
The book also contained two significant historical documents. One is the "Instrument of Accession of Tripura" signed by Maharani Kanchanprabha Devi and Lord Mountbatten. Another is the "Tripura Merger Agreement" signed by Kanchanprabha Devi and V.P.Menon.
As declared by Judge Subhasis Talapatra in the forewarding of the book, it would surely be beneficial to lawyers, students, bar libraries and all the related personalities.
