KAMALPUR, Feb 3 (TIWN):Dhalai district received central Award for generating highest man-days in MGNREGA in the 2014-15 fiscal. The district generated 74.65 lakhs man-days in total in 2014-15. It assured almost an average of 98.79 days of employment per household. Hence, reaching the highest benchmark the district received the prestigious award for generating highest numbers of man-days.
Central Rural Development Minister, Shri Chaudhary Birender Singh gave the award to the DM Dr. Sandeep R. Rathod at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi in the Annual Conference of MGNREGA today. The district generated 66.20 lakhs man-days at an average of 89 days per household till date in the current fiscal.
However, it might be mentioned here that, Dhalai remained one of those few districts in which MGNREGA was implemented from the very starting. And the district which remained the most backward district in the state had attained this significant milestone even amidst the topographical difficulties. The success of the district had been shared with all the concerned by the district administration. Still, even after the discrepancies and party-raj and the unlawful volunteerism of the party cadres, how the district could grab the award remained a matter of curiosity.
