AGARTALA, Feb 1 (TIWN): Keeping eye on the upcoming 34th Agartala Book Fair- 2016, preparation is going on in full-fledged.

Reportedly, workers are busy in preparing stalls for the book fair.

According to the official report, the fair will start from 3 pm in the afternoon and will continue till 8 pm in the evening.

Besides, on the off days, the fair stalls will be opened at 2 pm in the afternoon and will continue till 8.30 pm in the evening.

Reportedly, the fair will continue for 12 days which will continue till 25 February 2016.

It is expected that this year around 119 stall will be opened in the fair.

Along with the Tripura publishers, different publishers of Bangladesh, Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati will be invited to attend the Agartala Book fair.

Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sahid Choudhury has been made the Vice Chairman, Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly Pabitra Kar, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dr. Prafullajit Sinha and others are the member of the committee.

With aim to accomplish the fair successfully, under the Chairman ship of the Information and Cultural Affairs Bhanu Lal Saha a preparatory committee has been organized.

However, during the fair events like seminars, conference of poets, dramas, recitation and musical programmes will also be organized.

It is to ne mentioned here that the Agartala book fair is being organized in the Umakanta Academy ground since the first book fair in the year 1981.

Despite the phenomenal growth of other forms of media like e-books, TV channels and Internet, the value of traditionally written books remains undiminished.

Thousands of enthusiastic readers of the State and outside the State flocked to the ongoing twelve-day book fair in Agartala that not only displays books of the state, but also provides a platform for an interaction between both readers and writers.
