AGARTALA, Jan 22 (TIWN): Despite of huge figures of power bill remains pending in various government departments of the State, the State Govt is reluctant to shape up the fate of these huge amount. It is to be mentioned here that the State Govt's various departments are yet to pay around Rs.69 crores (till December) of electricity bills to the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited. Talking to TIWN correspondent, Senior Manager of Revenue Department Falguni Biswas stated that till the month of December, 2015 a total bill of around Rs. 69 crores has been figured out by the Power Department. Stressing on the issue, she mentioned that a copy with details of the pending bills has been forwarded to the concern departments under State Government. Further she said that all the Government Departments whose bill had crossed Rs. 1 lakh, has been sent the bill details. Besides, she also mentioned that accept Public Sector undertaking companies, all the other Departments under State Government were sent the bill details. Now the question is : why the State Government is delaying in clearing up the bills of the Power Department? Why the bill has increased and why they are not cleared on time. Allegation has been raised that if the so-called poor Chief Minister of the State Manik Sarkar can take chopper ride to attend the inaugural function of two schools at Santir Bazaar which is 90 kilometre away from the Capital, then why can’t he pay the bill on time !

However, where the state is facing several problems like acute scarcity of water, deplorable condition of roads and hospitals, CM Manik is busy in taking chopper ride for just 90 kilometres to attend an inaugural programme at Santirbazaar. Yet again continues to blame central of deducting the allotted fund to the state.

Despite the stunning figures of pending bills; the power connection to the departments cannot not be disconnected as most of their services come under the emergency category. Therefore, the hands of the power department is tied with several responsibilities and their attempt of collecting bill remains bound till requesting the Department to pay the bills on time.
