Industries & Commerce Minister urges to set up more food processing units

AGARTALA, Jan 15 (TIWN): With the joint initiatives of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Commerce Department and Ministry of Food Processing Industry, a conclave on ‘North East Food Processing’ has been organized at Pragna Bhawan.

Addressing the conclave on Friday, Minister for Industries & Commerce Tapan Chakraborty said that the subsidies which are being allotted by the Central Government for the food processing unit has the tenure till 2017.

Besides, he mentioned that if any sort of changes are being done on the scheme for the subsidy from the Central Government of if the subsidies are being stopped than it will create problem for the beneficiaries.

Stressing over the issue to extend or to continue the scheme of subsidy, Minister Chakraborty said that if the subsidy scheme is being withdrawn than most of the people has to face problem.

Besides, it has been mentioned that as bulk amount of jackfruit, pineapple are available in the state, so more food processing unit should be set up.

With more number of food processing unit, the industrial sector of the state will develop.

However, during the conclave the prospects of Food Processing Unit in the State, its advantage and its commercial benefits were also discussed.

Besides, the various other discussions over the benefits of the Food Processing Unit in the State are discussed.

During the programme, Principal Secretary of Rural Development GSG Ayyangar, North East advisor of Indian Chamber of Commerce Nakeeb Ahmed and others were also present at the programme.
