KAMALPUR, Jan 15 (TIWN): Every festivity or celebration made the commoners to receive a shock of price hike in essential commodities. The administration never found to adopt some remedy in the issue. They neither fixed up the price nor put any maximum limit. As a result, the unscrupulous businessmen used to fix up the price at their will. Even the price got waved up and up from time to time in the same day. In this scenario, the Sadhak Maharani Fish co-operative society gifted the fish lover with some ease on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, here at Kamalpur.

Yesterday, the price of essential commodities like vegetables, fish and meat got hiked unpredictably. Every kind of meat got sold at the lowest price of 200 and highest price of 400 rupees a kilo. Fishes whether saplings or big fishes the price hovered around 400 to 600 rupees a kilo. No type of vegetable was sold less than 80 rupees a kilo. In that situation, the commoners suffered a lot for price hike. But like all other occasions, the administration and the representatives not found in any role to ease the people.

In such a situation, the Sadhak Maharani Fish Co-operative of Marachara area provided a great ease to the fish-lovers. They like all other festivity viz. Bengali Nababarsha, Vijaya Dashami caught and sold fishes from their fisheries. They sold almost 200 kgs of fishes. The fixed the price of fishes less than 1 kg of weight at 100 rupees and more than a kg at 150 rupees a kilo. People virtually thronged to avail the opportunity. The Secretary of the Co-operative Pran kumar Das told “We arrange the sell on different occasion to provide people an opportunity to taste fishes in a reasonable price.”

It remained a strange fact that, when a society could provide people with such opportunity, then the people-friendly government failed to do that.
