AGARTALA, Jan 1 (TIWN): As the State celebrates the New Year, some of the families in the capital started the year on tragic note.
Around two incidents of accident has been reported which has occurred due to reckless driving at the midnight of New Year eve that is on Thursday mid-night.
According to sources, one accident has occurred at Barjala and another was at Buddhamandir.
The car bearing registration number TR01-A-G046 broke in to a house at Barjala.
Allegation has been raised that the drivers were drunk and were driving recklessly.
If the defensive and disciplined driving and following traffic and Motor Vehicle rules could have been followed during driving than the untoward incidents would not have occurred.
Besides, it may have allegedly occurred due to lack of street lights and misuse of high beam in head lights.
As negligence in the traffic rules and lack of lights and reflectors contribute to road accidents in the night. During festivities like New Year, these factors have a major role in increasing the risk of road accidents.
However, in the flow of enjoyment with the loved one most of the time youngsters forget to follow the traffic rules or neglect it.
However, celebration begins from the New Year eve with people roaming outside in the city and having fun with friends and family.
Shops and restaurants were observed puffed with people enjoying with their families and friends over food.
Besides, people decorate their houses with colourful lights and decorative papers and balloons.
Although the New Year celebration at Tripura is not so vast or huge like any other countries but they celebrate the day with enthusiasm.
