AGARTALA, Dec 23 (TIWN): With aim to aware the people about the rising number of cancer patients and to take care of their health, Sri Krishna Mission Alumni Association to organize a long distance marathon on December 25.
Speaking at the Press Club, the members of the Association said that the marathon will be initiated from the ground of Umakanta Academy.
Detailing about the marathon programme, it has been mentioned that the run will be initiatied from morning 7 am. The male participants had to run for 7 kilometre and the female candidates had to run for 3.5 kilometre.
However, the long distance marathon run has been named ‘Rajem Run’- a run against cancer.
During the press conference at Press club, it has been mentioned that the initiatives have been taken to aware the people about the rising number of cancer patients in the State.
Besides, to aware the people who are addicted to drugs and the items which is bad for cancer to leave these item and to start exercise and to take care of health.
Cancer, also known as a malignant tumour or malignant neoplasm, is a group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body. Not all tumours are cancerous; benign tumours do not spread to other parts of the body.
It is to be mentioned here that consumption of tobacco cause about 22% of cancer deaths. Another 10% is due to obesity, poor diet, lack of physical activity, and consumption of alcohol. Other factors include certain infections, exposure to ionizing radiation, and environmental pollutants.
However, the programme has been scheduled to be inaugurated by Sports Minister Sahid Choudhury on December 25 at the Ground of Umakanta Academy.
Besides, a cultural programme will also be organized on December 30 at Nazrul Kalashetra.
However, the association is conducting the programme with help of Tripura Olympic Association and Sri Krishna Mission School.
