AGARTALA, Dec 16 (TIWN): Despite of taking several initiatives to improve the Education system of the state, after few months of implementation several loopholes comes up while question comes to proper system of providing Education to the needy families.

It is worthy to mention that the cabinet has approved the proposal of bifurcating Education Department in to two departments – elementary education from class I to VIII and Secondary education from class IX to XII.

The initiatives have been taken with an aim to lessen the burden of the officials in the Department.

Besides, altogether 131 employees of various hostels have been regularized in the Education Department. On the other hand, Die in Harness Scheme of Government of Tripura Rules has been revised after the Government has suffered defeat in two cases.

Despite of several tall claims to make Tripura 100 percent literate, education system in the state is turning pathetic day by day.

Reportedly, some schools lack adequate numbers of teachers, in some schools students are maintaining their attendance under open roof.

Though, the State Education department had drawn up several plans and policies to make the state 100 percent literate, but they are failing to achieve their targets and goals due to lack of attention to the education sector.

The government is spending a large amount of budget in providing free education to the poor and needy but what these kids are getting is of no use.

On the other hand, despite of constituting State commission for the protection of child rights, children are witnessed working in houses as maid servant, in the brick industries and in many more sectors.

Reportedly, less than 14-year old child were also witnessed working in the brick field at Kailashahar. So far no initiatives are being taken to stop the child labour in the areas.

The age when the hands of the children are to hold pen and paper to gain education and to enhance their knowledge, they are busy in handing the budget of their household.

Reportedly, toiling under the baking hot tropical sun, these workers in many interiors as well as in the capital are carrying out back-breaking and exhausting labour in the most perilous conditions.
