AGARTALA, Dec 14 (TIWN): With tall claims of development and lack of strong opposition, CPI-M has this time also managed to win the Municipal election, irrespective of uneducated and poor people from far villages who maynot even know the real definition of development. One such example is Tirthamukh Hydro project of TSECL which started in July 10, 1997,. It was claimed that at around 8.5 MW power will be generated from this hydro-project plant but TSECL has failed to utilize this power project plant and left this plant in deplorable condition since decades.According to the sources, huge embezzlement of funds are undertaking in the name of Tirthamukh Hydro project, whether this plant is producing nothing. Moreover, due to lack of maintenance this hydro plant has gone into its worst condition, also due to lack of proper infrastructure this plant is presently failed to generate power. However, it’s to be mentioned here that this is not only the single plant which is left in deplorable condition, infact all the Govt. owned power plants are left in such miserable condition , but Manik Govt. kept on blaming the plants as OTPC, Monarchak for not generating power even though State Govt owned TSECL owes over 100 crores to plants like OTPC to NEEPCO.Moreover, the OTPC plant is going to export 100MW power to Bangladesh very soon even thought TSECL has pending around 100 crores bill to the plants. As a result load-shedding is on a rise in Tripura, even though Manik Govt. claims for 'development' .Also allegations are coming that huge misappropriation of money took place in Gomati Dist. and crores are pocketed in the name of hydro power generation.

The project area in miserable condition and most of the official accessories are unusable .Moreover office quarters are left as abandoned. According to reports the road, bridge, toilet are in deplorable and all turn into Jungle in  last 10 years.

As a result, tourism around panoramic view of Dumboor lake couldn't progress due to lack of initiatives of TSECL authority of Tirthamukh Hydro Proect.

Local people several time demanded to restore past glory Tirthamukh Hydro project, but the administration has turned a deaf and blind eye to their demands.

So, it can be said that the uninterrupted 22 years stint in power seems to have taken a toll on the financial transparency of the Left Front administration in Tripura.

Corruption in implementation of rural development schemes continues unabated.
