AGARTALA, Dec 14 (TIWN): The much awaited fly over construction in Tripura received a major jolt with an order from west Tripura district court to halt the fly over constriction at Bordowali area as land acquisition issue is looming large.

As it is, of the 2.5KM flyover construction work, not even 500 meter of work is yet complete and the stay order from the court is expected to much delay the construction work in the state. Its almost 8 months that the flyover construction has began in the state, but till today no visible progress is made in the construction work. And shockingly nor even 500 meter of the fly over construction is completed.

It is to be mention here that from many spots many of the families and the shopkeepers along side of the road have given obstruction in the construction work of the flyover due to the land acquisition problems.

However, although the soil test work along with work is completed in all the spots but not much progress is seen in the 2.5 KM flyover construction work. The construction agency is although engaged in the work at Battala spot mainly but hardly any development is noticed at the battala after the successful report of the load test.

Question arise, the way the agency is undertaking the work in the state, will it be possible for them to complete the work in the given duration?

To smooth the traffic movement at Battala, the Left front govt. has taken up an ambitious project of building flyover at the Agartala city. The snail pace of work shows that the half of the construction work for the 2.5KM fly over will not be completed in the 30 months and the big heads will fill their pockets with the money and will longer the duration of the project in the state.

Since the days of durga puja, only 2 iron bars were erected for pillaring and till today there is no progress is seen in the work.

The footpaths’ along the shops at Battala is broken for widening the road but despite of the widening of the roads there is no much relief from the traffic congestion in the city.

However, agitating over the slow progress in the construction work of the first ever fly over the locals also complained that due to the delay in the construction site at battala the people faces traffic congestion at the office hours and cannot reach to their destination.

The locals further complained that if the construction goes on in a such a slow progress the construction work for the flyover will not be completed within the given time period.

It is to be mentioned here that getting a green signal from the state Public Work Department (PWD) the departmental engineers taken up the construction work for building Rs. 250 crore flyover but after that the minister could not manage time to take a view to the spot.
