Left Front triumphs the civic polls across the state, wins 291 among 310 seats

AGARTALA, Dec 12 (TIWN): Left Front led by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) on Saturday swept the civic polls across the state, winning 291 among 310 seats all across the State.

Reportedly, among 49 votes altogether 45 seats were captured by Left Front and four are by Congress whereas BJP and others were left with zero votes.

Meanwhile, Congress has somehow managed to capture 13 seats all across the State, Bharatiya Janta Party with 4 and others with 2 seats.

Among all the 886 candidates, including 429 women, from all parties contested the civic polls.

The Left Front, comprising four Left parties and dominated by CPI-M, has won the Jirania Nagar Panchayat in western Tripura as the Left parties got all seats uncontested before the elections.

Where the Left Front has captured 45 seats in Municipal election, Congress could manage to capture 4 seats in the Agartala Municipal Corporation Election.

Detailing about the 13 Municipal Councils, it has been mentioned that Left Front has captured 21 seats in Dharmanagar Municipal Council out of 23, BJP with 2 seats. Besides, 13 seats of Left Front Party in Kailashahar Municipal Council with 2 captured by others, 13 seats of Left Front Party in Kumarghat Municipal Council with 2 captured by BJP.   

Where Congress could capture only one seat at Ambassa Municipal Council, Left Front has wins by 12 seats.

Achieving massive victory, Left Front over Khowai (15), Teliamura (15), Ranirbazaar (13), Mohanpur (13), Melaghar (13), SatirBazaar (13) and Belonia Municipal Council (15) rejoice over winning all the seats in the area.  

Elections were held to the 144-years-old Agartala Municipal Corporation, 13 municipal councils and five nagar panchayats in Tripura on Wednesday. Around 89 percent of the 537,968 electorate voted in the polls in Left-ruled Tripura.

Besides, among all the five Nagar Panchayats, Left Front had sweeps all the seats in four panchayats. It is to be mentioned her that Left Front captured 10 seats in Sonamura Nagar Panchayat and Congress one.

Reportedly, out of 310 seats in the 20 local civic bodies, Left parties won in 291 seats while the Congress bagged 13 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party four and independents two.

However, overall Left Front has managed to capture 45 seats out of 49 whereas Congress got 13 and BJP with four and two seats has been captured by the other party.
