AMC election: Congress wins in four wards

AGARTALA, Dec 12 (TIWN): Where the Left Front wins in 26 seats; INC has won in four wards of Agartala Municipal Election.

Reportedly, INC Candidates Milan Das from ward number- 3, Ratna Datta from ward number- 20, Himani Debbarma from ward number – 22 and Sampa Darkar (Choudhury) from ward number- 39 has won with majority votes.

Majority votes to be declared by afternoon. However, the supporters are observed rejoicing the win in the four wards.

It is to be mentioned here that the fate of the other candidates to be declared by the afternoon.  

There are about 5.24 lakh voters whose vote would decide the fate of 886 candidates across 657 polling booths. There was no report of any violence during the polling period and the vote was conducted peacefully in the state

However, the first phase of the counting has been observed peacefully in the capital.  

A total of 537,968 people, including 268,754 women, have cast their votes in the municipal elections.

The 144-year-old Agartala Municipal Corporation is the oldest municipal body in the north-eastern region. The Agartala municipality, which turned into a corporation two years back, was constituted in 1871.
