AGARTALA, Dec 11 (TIWN): Asking apology for passing derogatory comments against the newspapers of Tripura as ‘toilet papers’ Khowai senior DCM Pankaj Chakraborty submitted an affidavit to Press council of India (PCI) after the Tripura Journalist union (TJU) placed a memorandum to PCI demanding to take action against him.

Senior TCS officer and DCM of Khowai district Pankaj Chakraborty have tendered an apology for his derogatory remarks against the newspapers of Tripura. Chakraborty, in his Facebook post, had likened local newspapers to toilet paper. He constantly made hate campaigns against the newspapers when newspapers criticised his post against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

It is to be mention here that The Tripura Journalists Union lodged a complaint with the Press Council of India over the issue and PCI has given him show cause notice for his derogatory comments.

However, Khowai DCM Pankaj Chakraborty asking for apology for his derogatory comments submitted an affidavit to PCI.

The sources further said that PCI has asked Tripura Journalist Union to solve the disputes mutually between themselves.

It is alleged that Chakroborty has also posted objectionable comments against the state media organizations just after the issue of FB post against Bengal CM has rocked the entire state.

According to the official, the government has taken an initiative and conducted an inquiry on the FB post later after which an appropriate step was taken by the government against the TCS officer Pankaj Chakroborty. The official claimed that Chakroborty being a TCS officer had violated the service conduct rules and disrespected his chair.

Besides, most surprisingly when the issue of FB post against Mamata Banarjee, posted by Chakroborty was reported in the media, he slammed the newspapers terming them as 'toilet papers' and made some derogatory comments against journalists of the state.

It is to be mention here that the particular comment is defamatory and has violated the Cyber laws according to Indian Penal Code and Service Code of Conduct.
