Khowai attack: Left Front counter attacks on Congress, criticizes the allegation raised against the party

AGARTALA, Dec 8 (TIWN): Left front on Tuesday launched a counter attack on Congress, criticizes the allegation raised against the party.Speaking at a press conference held at the CPI-M Party Office, CPI-M spokesperson Gautam Das said that the allegation raised against the Left Front is fake. The opposition is just trying to hamper the reputation of the party, said Das.Besides, he also mentioned that just before the election raising such kind of allegation is an attempt to hamper the party reputation and to influence people so that the Left Front Party accumulate less vote in the election. Criticizing the fake allegation, spokesperson of CPI-M said that congress has instigated several attacks over the candidates of Left Front Party. Besides, they also left no chance to destroy the flags and festoon of the party.Mentioning the attack over the Left Front leaders, he said that Mohanpur candidates- Prabir Debnath, Mithu Dey and Soma Debroy were injured in an attack instigated by the Congress Party on December 5. At present they are admitted in a Hospital, added.It has been mentioned that on the one hand where the Congress itself is instigating several attacks on the Left Front Candidates at Mohanpur but on the other hand, they are blaming Left Front for the attack at Khowai.

Besides, Goutam Das said the press conference that the entire election campaign has been peaceful despite stray incidents of attacks on CPI (M) workers in Santi Para area and southern parts of Agartala town.

The Congress supporter has instigated attack in four wards of Mohanpur.

Besides, the party hoped for smooth and peaceful election as tight security arrangements have been made. They are also hoping to win in all 291 seat or Wards in the state-wide election.

We have already won 19 Wards without contest out of the total of 310 wards in the polls' said Gautam Das.

It is to be mentioned here that Khowai District Congress Committee on Monday boycotted Khowai Nagar Panchayat election which is scheduled to be held on December 9. The attempt has been taken reacting over the alleged attack instigated by the Left Front.

Detailing about the incident, Opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman earlier mentioned that the Left Front supporters instigated the attack with sharp weapon.

Reacting on the mute role of the Authority over the attack, the Khowai District Congress Committee boycotted Khowai Nagar Panchayat election scheduled to be held on December 9.

However, Left Front party hopes for smooth and peaceful election scheduled to be held on December 9.
