AGARTALA, Nov 28 (TIWN): With an aim for smooth and hassle free election, SDM Manik Lal Das along with the polling personnel conducted the second phase of mock-poll on Saturday at Randra Satabarshiki Bhawan.

During the session, the polling officer and the observer were asked to ensure the Commencement of Poll at the mentioned hours. Besides, they were asked to supervise the EVM properly with proper sealing and the sign and symbols of the machine properly.

Besides, they were asked to send reports of Poll Commencement to Sector Office, send Periodical Reports on Votes Cast, to instruct the Police Force as the Situation demands, to declare Close of Poll on the given time.

The process involved training for administering polling process, instructions of EVM sealing through video learning tools etc.

It is to be mentioned here that almost all the political parties here in Tripura have geared up for the upcoming Municipal election which is scheduled to be held on December 9.      

Around 70 percent of the total polling booths are identified as sensitive by the police administration and special security force including TSR to be deployed to maintain the safety conduct of the election.

According to plan prepared by the state police administration for the upcoming civic elections all the identified sensitive polling booths will be guarded by the TSR jawans on the day of election.

Following the inputs from DMs and SDMs of the total 730 polling stations, the police administration has identified around 70 percent booths as sensitive where TSR would be engaged on the day of election.

To ensure a violence-free election and to avoid any pre-poll untoward incident, a full-proof security arrangement has been made by the administration, said an official source.

The final photo voter lists for the ensuing Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), 13 Municipal Councils and 6 Nagar Panchayats is announced by state election department.

It is expected that there would be no lack of security personnel for the civic elections. CRPF and TSR jawans would keep a strict vigil to ensure error free election.

However, the Municipal election will held on December 9 and the counting will be conducted on December 12.
