AGARTALA, Nov 28 (TIWN): Declaring about the restrictions on the movement of the vehicles on the day of upcoming civic poll, State Election Commission issued few instructions under Article 243k of the constitution and all other powers.
In order of ensure peaceful election, the candidates and the election agents and other involved in the election duty had to use the vehicles allotted for them. Besides, the permits of the vehicles will be issued by the Returning officer.
The political parties are required to register their vehicles with the authority concerned (RO) and had to display the permits on the wind screen of the vehicles.
It has been mentioned that panel action both under the provisions of the Tripura Municipal Act 1994 and chapter IXA of the Indian Panel Code, shall be taken against anyone found offending the direction.
So far there are no intensions on the part of the commission to put a complete ban of all vehicular traffic on the day of poll. Private vehicles can be used either by them or for their family members to go to the polling booth to exercise their franchise but cannot exceed more than 200 meter of radius.
However, movement of two wheelers in a group has been restricted on the day of poll. Only one pillion rider is allowed on two wheeler vehicles. Besides, many other initiatives are being taken to ensure safe and peaceful election.
