AGARTALA, Nov 27 (TIWN): About 70 percent of the total polling booths are identified as sensitive by the police administration and special security force including TSR to be deployed to maintain the safety conduct of the election.
According to plan prepared by the state police administration for the upcoming civic elections all the identified sensitive polling booths will be guarded by the TSR jawans on the day of election.
Following the inputs from DMs and SDMs of the total 730 polling stations, the police administration has identified around 70 percent booths as sensitive where TSR would be engaged on the day of election. To ensure a violence-free election and to avoid any pre-poll untoward incident, a full-proof security arrangement has been made by the administration, said an official source.
Amid tight security arrangement, State Election Commission (SEC) is all set for conducting municipal election, scheduled to be held through EVMs on December9. Besides, troops of BSF and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) are intensifying joint operation including patrolling along the border and keeping a close vigil on the movements of people along the border, said the source.
At least twenty companies of CRPF jawans would be deployed to gaurd strong rooms where EVMs are to be kept. The CRPF jawans have already taken possession of twenty strong rooms where EVMs will be kept after the polling on December 9. Apart from strong rooms, CRPF jawans would be deployed when ballot papers are being printed for the civic elections.
It is expected that there would be no lack of security personnel for the civic elections. CRPF and TSR jawans would keep a strict vigil to ensure error free election.
