AGARTALA, Nov 10 (TIWN): Even after the completion of the Durga Puja celebration, the markets price of the daily commodities still on hike during the Diwali festival.
It’s not just onions; potatoes and tomatoes are also leaving the common man in tears. Prices of the most common vegetables are on hike during Diwali.
Prices of fruits, vegetables along with other essential commodities soared in the state.
During the traditional festivals where people conduct get together with the family members had to manage their pocket or to deduct the list of commodities from the part of celebration.
The price hike has left us no option rather than to deduct some of the items which we would have taken as a part of Puja celebration, said a local. Otherwise it is hard to manage the budget, said a local.
The price hike has not only forced to deduct our essential commodities from the budget list but also upsets our pocket, added.
Over the past few months, retail prices of onion have shot up almost from Rs. 40 per kg to 80-85 per kg in the State. Besides, the wholesale prices of onions have also risen over the same period across the state.
Even after prolonged several months of price hike of commodities in the market, the concern authority is least bothered about how the poor and the middle class families are managing their pockets.
Despite of several issues faced by the citizens of the State, the authority is playing silent role.
