AGARTALA, Nov 10 (TIWN): City police have stepped up security measures in all major markets in the Capital on the occasion of festival of lights, Diwali. Along with the city the security is also beefed up in the bordering areas including at Sonamura, Boxonagar, Korbook and other places to conduct safe and secured Diwali celebration in the state.
A senior police official however said they were already prepared enough to deal with any situation.
“Apart from extra force, we have also posted dog squads and placed metal detectors at crowded places. Several police personnel in plain clothes are also keeping an eye on the movements of suspicious people all over the Capital,” a senior police official said.
Regular movement of police teams has also been arranged at the markets. Pickets and barriers are in proper place and policemen are checking visitors with the help of metal detectors. Besides, dog squads have also been directed to check crowded market places at regular intervals.
It is to be mentioned here that security arrangements have been tightened ahead of the festival of lights. Full arrangements for smooth traffic inflow on that day have been made, and police is always alert to prevent any untoward incident and prevent miscreants from indulging in mischief.
However, security is also tightened at the premises of the tripureshwari temple at Udaipur as the temple witness a crowd of more than thousands of people during Diwali to offer prayer on the auspicious occasion of Diwali.
As a part of the safety and security, Altogether 22 CCTV cameras have been installed at the various major areas of the temple and its premises.
Besides, massive search operation has initiated across the area in all public places, motor-vehicles, hotels, restaurants, busy market places with bomb and dog squads.
To ensure safe and secure celebration of Diwali festival, a total of 10 watch towers have been set up and one Police assistance booth has also been installed to avoid any kind of untoward incidence.
