AGARTALA, Nov 8 (TIWN): If everything goes well Tripura will be officially put on the Railway map of India with trial run of railway engine renting the hills on the newly laid BG track upto Udaipur by the end of December, said NFR GM HK Jaggi.

In a visit to Tripura, NFR GM HK Jaggi said that, if everything falls in place trial run can be conducted with railway engine on the newly laid BG track by December end.

He also confirmed that the BG conversion work will be positively completed by March 2016.

Railway connectivity would be a gift for the land-locked people of this state.

However, it is to be mentioned here that once the trial run of the engine runs successfully, the arrival of BG trains in Tripura will run high.

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is working hard to bring Agartala under the country’s Broad Gauge Network by March 2016. After the introduction of the BG facility one could return from Guwahati to Agartala, capital town of the landlocked State Tripura in eight hours. If NFR sticks to its project schedule, the ongoing work of BG conversion work from Lumding to Agartala via Badarpur would be completed by March 2016. The ambitious railway project, which is also a national project, has 79 major bridges, 340 minor bridges, 28 railway stations and four halt stations, said a NFR source.

With the introduction of the BG facility, one could return from Guwahati to Agartala, capital town of the landlocked State –Tripura in a journey spanning around eight hours and if things fall in place, the ongoing work of BG conversion work from Lumding to Agartala via Badarpur would be completed shortly.

With the everyday progress in the conversion work, the common mass of the state is observing a ray of hope for faster communication and transportation.

Days are not so far when after the BG (Broad gauge) conversion work, Agartala will also be connected with by BG track with country’s railway network.

The pace of the conversion work shows that Agartala will soon be connected with the BG track to bring in sync with the rest of the country.

As a part of the faster development in the work progress of the BG conversion work the NFR team undertook conversion work fromSeptember 20 following which the passengers and goods train from Agartala to Karimganj is suspended.
