Massive rise in cattle smuggling left 1 dead in Sonamura

SONAMURA, Nov 8 (TIWN): One Pulsar Bike bearing No.TR-01-8903 dashed to the truck (TR-03-1947) full of cows on back side in Agartala-Sonamura Road. As a result bike rider namely Jakir Hossain (22), S/O Mafij Mia of Bolerdepha and received grievous injuries on head and were shifted to GBP Hospital via Sonamura Hospital. Injured Jakir Hossain Hossain died at GBP Hospital during treatment. Treatment of other injured person is going on. The accident occurred due to rash and negligent driving on the part of the rider of the truck who are then hurried for smuggling of those cows to Bangladesh. Sonamura PS staff visited the place of occurrence and seized both the involved truck. Driver of involved truck is absconding.

It’s to be mentioned here that Sonamura has become the corridor of smuggling cows and buffaloes to Bangladesh for last  few months. Cattle smuggling rises through Indo Bangla Border by smugglers under Sonamura Sub Division, says report.

 It is also reported that a gang of smugglers take the cows from Churaibari of Assam to Bishramganja under Sepahijala district of Tripura. Then using different routes, they reach the border area and smuggle them at night. Though the BSF were informed about this, they were unable to take any steps against this as BSF operates only 2km from the border. Therefore, they waited until the buffalos reached the border area. In many parts of Sonamura Sub Division  Indo Bangla Border area ,BSF are also earning money and so they remain inactive over this issue. One bike rider died due to massive rise in cattle smuggling at Sonamura.
