AGARTALA, Nov 8 (TIWN): Recently in a joint initiatives of the police, BSF and TSR along with other officials destroyed massive ganja plantation worth Rs. 60 Lakhs, confirmed sources here on Saturday.
The ganja raid was carried out at four villages- Sitakhola, Miapara, Konaban and Bhatibari.
According to sources, the price of destroyed ganja plants would have been Rs. 60 crore after full grown.
Locals complained that due to the negligence of the police the miscreants got the chance to plant the Ganja plant.
The joint raid which began 8 ended up at 4 pm. Inspector of BSF Arun Kumar also joined the day-long joint raid.
Huge number of illegal Ganja on the Government land has been destroyed.
However, the locals raised question that despite of several raids over the area the police has failed to arrest the accused.
It has to be mentioned here that ganja plantation sites should be identified and to carry out intensive operation to destroy ganja plants in the initial stage.
