AGARTALA, Nov 7 (TIWN): Bharatiya Janata Mohila Morcha on Saturday staged a road blockade at Taltala of Bordowali, protesting against the increasing incidence of atrocities and assaults on women in the State.
Raising voice against the rising crime against women, the protesters demanded to stop the bride killing and domestic violence against the women.
Stressing on the safety measure for the women, they demanded to set up women police station in every sub-division. Besides, Police Administration should increase the number of Police personnel in the police station.
They further asked to stop groupism in the implementation of the women development scheme under Central Development. Besides, they also demanded Tripura Commission for Women to work without being bias.
Protesting high against the domestic violence against the women, they demanded to initiate the investigation on time and announce the judgement as soon as possible.
The morcha would launch continuous protests if the government failed to check atrocities and assaults on women. The government should strengthen laws dealing with assaults on women, said the protester.
Those who committed sexual assault on women should be given the sternest possible punishment.
They continued the road blockade for one hour. However, the blockade lead to traffic disruption in the area creating problem for the passerby as it was the peak time for the office employees.
Getting alarm about the situation SDPO Harimohan Das, Additional SP Sarmishta Chakraborty along with other police personals reached the spot and assured to take a proper step to improve the situation and to provide better service.
However, getting assurance from the authority the supporters withdraw the road blockade.
