AGARTALA, Nov 6 (TIWN): With the aim to review if all the facilities are reaching the SC community of the state, the members of the national commission for the scheduled caste in a two days visit to the state hold a meeting at State guest on Friday.
Meeting with the public representatives and office bearers of the SC welfare association, the Chairman of national commission for the scheduled caste PL Pumiya expressed satisfaction over the development and progress of the SC community in the state. The development of the SC comparing to the other state is more in Tripura.
Commenting on the literacy rate he said that the SC community are also receiving good education in the state and are well literate.
There is no caste violence in the state comparing to the other states, added Chairman of national commission for the scheduled caste.
A common form of past discrimination in India was the practice of untouchability. Scheduled Castes (SCs) were the primary targets of the practice, which is outlawed by the Constitution of India.
To review the progress of the scheme provided by the central for the development of the SC in the state, to check if the schemes are fully utilised for the development of the SC community in the state, the national commission for the scheduled caste hold the meeting.
However, the team also meet Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and Welfare of Scheduled Caste (SC)
Ratan Bhowmik and discussed for the further betterment of the SC community in the state.
