SABROOM, Nov 3 (TIWN): The State Level Judo competitions Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 for boys and girls got underway at Manu Bazar GP Ground Sabroom from 2nd Nov and 3rd Nov. The tournament was inaugurated by MP Jiten Choudhury. A total of 55 players drawn from other districts are participating in these two days competition. Dakshin Zilla Sabhadhipati Himansu Roy, MLA Pravat Choudhury, MDC Arun Tripura and Modhu Mog were also present in the inauguration program. Several important personalities were also present during the competition day.

MP Jiten was particularly pleased: “This format of competition gives a good opportunity to our young athletes to meet other competitors. It creates a real atmosphere between themselves and reinforce our judo community. We might develop the concept in the upcoming years.”

Himanshu Roy ,Sabhadhipati who declared: “It is with tremendous excitement and pride that I am greatly humbled to welcome you all to this important event. This magnificent Judo form a stage which gives us the wonderful opportunity to come together and meet, for the athletes to compete in the best sense of friendship, solidarity and fair play.”

MLA Pravat Choudhury in his speech said,”Sports help children to learn self-discipline and assertiveness. These are important life skills, which we need to promote through sport and at all costs.”
